About Crestwood Academy
Crestwood Academy is a private elementary school located in Moore, Oklahoma, opening in August 2026. The school will launch with kindergarten through fourth grade in its founding year, with planned expansion through sixth grade as enrollment and facilities grow.
Crestwood was founded on the belief that children thrive in an educational environment that combines strong academics, intentional character development, and meaningful real-world learning experiences that reinforce academic mastery.
Our approach to education is both structured and student-centered. Crestwood Academy provides a full-day educational experience designed to support academic mastery while nurturing responsibility, curiosity, and personal growth. Small class sizes allow educators to build strong relationships with students and tailor instruction to individual learning needs.
Families are often drawn to Crestwood because they are looking for a school environment where their child is truly known, appropriately challenged, and supported in both academic and personal growth.
Our Mission and Educational Philosophy
The mission of Crestwood Academy is to educate the whole child by fostering academic excellence, strong character, and a sense of responsibility to community and environment. We believe education should prepare students not only for academic success but also for thoughtful and engaged participation in the world around them.
Crestwood Academy follows a balanced educational model that integrates structured academic instruction with experiential learning opportunities. This approach encourages students to think critically, engage actively in their learning, and develop practical skills alongside core academic knowledge.
Our program design reflects careful planning around small-class instruction, curriculum alignment, and sustainable school growth.
Academic Excellence and Experiential Learning
Crestwood Academy prioritizes academic rigor while emphasizing depth of understanding and real-world application. Instruction is structured, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with high academic standards, with a strong focus on literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Experiential learning is an essential component of the Crestwood Academy experience. Through hands-on projects, outdoor and farm-inspired learning, and community engagement, students connect classroom learning to lived experience. These opportunities support problem-solving, collaboration, stewardship, and personal responsibility.
At Crestwood, hands-on learning enhances academics — it does not replace them. Our goal is to produce confident thinkers who can both master core subjects and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
Character and Community
Crestwood Academy approaches character development as a practical, lived part of daily school life. Students are supported in developing integrity, respect, perseverance, empathy, and accountability through consistent expectations, clear boundaries, and meaningful relationships.
Character education at Crestwood emphasizes responsibility, ethical decision-making, and consideration for others. Community engagement and shared responsibility help students understand their role as contributing members of society and encourage them to act with care, respect, and awareness in their interactions.
By combining academic rigor, experiential learning, and intentional character formation, Crestwood Academy provides a well-rounded educational foundation that supports students’ academic, social, and personal growth.
Why Crestwood Exists
Crestwood Academy was founded in response to a growing need for an educational environment that upholds high academic expectations while remaining calm, structured, and supportive — without losing sight of family connection and the importance of childhood.
Many families are seeking:
Smaller, more focused classrooms
Strong academic foundations
Clear expectations and consistent structure
Meaningful hands-on learning
A school environment free from political or ideological pressure
Crestwood was created to meet that need.
Our goal is simple and ambitious: to build a school where students are known well, taught well, and prepared well — academically, personally, and socially.
Founding Families
Crestwood Academy was established by a small group of Moore-area families who recognized the need for a thoughtfully designed elementary option emphasizing academic excellence, clear structure, and intentional learning experiences.
Through careful planning and collaboration, the founding families worked to create a school model focused on:
Small, well-managed classrooms
Strong instructional quality
Consistent expectations
Meaningful student engagement
Long-term program stability
Crestwood Academy continues to grow intentionally, with a focus on building a school community that serves students and families with clarity, consistency, and care.
Why We Chose the Name
Crestwood
The name Crestwood was chosen deliberately to reflect how we view education, growth, and responsibility.
A crest represents a point of perspective — the place where effort meets clarity. It symbolizes direction, progress, and the moment where understanding begins to take shape. In education, this reflects guiding students toward confidence, capability, and sound judgment as they move forward.
Wood represents strength, stability, and steady growth over time. Unlike rapid or forced development, wood grows gradually, forming strong roots and lasting structure. This mirrors our belief that meaningful learning happens through consistency, patience, and thoughtful guidance.
Together, Crestwood reflects an environment grounded in enduring principles — where students are supported as they grow academically, socially, and personally, with care taken at every stage of development.
The Crest & Shield
The Crestwood Academy shield reflects the idea of a strong foundation paired with thoughtful exploration.
Traditionally, a shield represents protection, responsibility, and preparation. In an educational setting, it symbolizes a safe and structured environment where students are encouraged to learn, ask questions, and develop confidence within clear expectations.
The shield also reflects a long-standing educational tradition that values moral responsibility, stewardship, and the formation of character alongside academic learning.
Each element within the crest reflects a core aspect of learning and growth:
• The open book represents knowledge, curiosity, and academic learning
• The quill symbolizes communication, expression, and thoughtful inquiry
• The torch reflects guidance, understanding, and the pursuit of truth
• The tree represents growth, resilience, and long-term development
Together, these elements reflect Crestwood Academy’s commitment to balanced education — one that values learning, exploration, structure, and steady progress.
The Otter: Our School Symbol
The otter was chosen as Crestwood Academy’s school symbol because it naturally reflects many of the qualities we encourage in students.
Otters are intelligent, curious, adaptable, and highly social. They learn through observation, problem-solving, and interaction — often working collaboratively while maintaining independence.
They are also known for balance: comfortable on land and in water, playful yet focused, and capable of navigating change with confidence. This balance reflects how we support students as they learn to think critically, collaborate with others, and respond thoughtfully to challenges.
The otter represents a learner who is engaged, resilient, and confident — qualities we aim to nurture throughout each student’s educational journey.
What It All Represents Together
The name Crestwood, the crest, and the otter together reflect one clear idea:
A school built on strong foundations, thoughtful guidance, and steady growth — shaped by enduring moral principles and a commitment to educating the whole child.
Why Families Choose Crestwood Academy
Families who choose Crestwood Academy are seeking an educational environment that is intentional, academically focused, and grounded in thoughtful instruction and clear expectations.
Crestwood Academy was established to provide a strong alternative for families who value high academic standards, small learning communities, and meaningful learning experiences. Our approach prioritizes depth of understanding, individualized support, and purposeful engagement—rather than one-size-fits-all instruction.
How Crestwood Academy Is Different
Purposefully Small by Design
Crestwood Academy maintains limited enrollment and small class sizes to ensure students receive individualized attention. This structure allows educators to know each student well and adapt instruction to support academic growth, confidence, and genuine understanding.
High Academic Standards
Our curriculum is aligned with high-performing national academic benchmarks, drawing from standards recognized for rigor, consistency, and academic depth. This approach allows Crestwood Academy to exceed baseline requirements while maintaining a clear, structured progression of learning across grade levels.
Hands-On, Experiential Learning
Students learn through direct experience, problem-solving, and application. Instruction is supported by hands-on activities, outdoor learning, and real-world connections that reinforce academic concepts and encourage curiosity, responsibility, and critical thinking.
Thoughtful Approach to Learning and Family Life
Crestwood Academy values academic excellence while remaining mindful of students’ time, well-being, and development. Homework is assigned intentionally and purposefully, allowing students time for family life, rest, reflection, and balanced growth outside of the school day.
Independent by Design
As an independently governed school, Crestwood Academy is not subject to government funding structures or mandated instructional models. This independence allows us to:
• Maintain flexible, student-centered instructional practices
• Preserve small class sizes and consistent expectations
• Design curriculum intentionally rather than by mandate
• Respond thoughtfully to the needs of our school community
Our independence supports stability, consistency, and long-term planning grounded in educational quality, ethical responsibility, and sound stewardship.
